International Women’s Day 2024

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day 2024.

The theme this year is Inspire Inclusion.

Our club captain Olivia tells us what it means to her.

” Today is International Women’s Day and this year’s theme is inspire inclusion, this means that women and girls feel inspired to be included and feel empowered in all aspects of society.

Gymnastics is a fantastic sport, and at Buckley Gymnastics Club we want to make sure everybody is included regardless of race, age, ability, faith, body image and how they identify.

Let’s celebrate everyone’s uniqueness together!”

Thank you Olivia, we will aim to inspire inclusion in our club.

There’s lots of inspiration of women in sport on the International Women’s Day  website.

Olivia has been chosen as this year’s girls club captain.

Olivia is in Comp Squad and trains numerous times a week, she’s also a sport leader.

Coach Shelley explains why she was chosen:

“Olivia has been with Buckley since she was in Preschool and she now helps coach in Preschool. She has proven herself as a role model for our gymnasts by helping in many different classes and camps.
Olivia has shown herself to be very reliable and committed, she is approachable to gymnasts if they need help or advice”

Introducing our new coaching director

Welcome back to a new year at the club.

We’d like to introduce Ceri Sass, our new coaching director.

Ceri is a former Buckley gymnast and head coach and has over 30 years experience in gymnastics.

Having been a former Welsh Gymnastics’ development officer and a gymnastic club manager, she is the ideal person to help take us forward with 2024 being our 50th anniversary year.

Ceri will be overseeing the classes and guiding our coaches to help get the best out of the gymnasts.

Welcome back Ceri
