Dave and JoWell done to our coaches Dave and Jo for passing their Women’s Artistic Level 2 qualification.

As level 2 coaches they will be able to run their own sessions in the gym, develop the girls in more advanced moves, taking them on to compete as well as acting as mentors to other new coaches.

New youth class

It was all change in the gym on Saturday as some of our gymnasts started in their new classes.

youth-pyramidThe youth class had its first session. Coaches Bob and Helen ran the class from 11am-2pm. It will be held every Saturday.

The girls have swapped their four-piece training to concentrate on floor work, tumbling and vaulting.

The aim is to take part in displays and competitions in the future.

They’re also working on their pyramid!

Weekend winners

Well done to all our girls who competed this weekend in the  North Area Level 5 & 6 competition – and they came away with a clutch of medals. Here are the results:

Saturday’s competition was held at Queensway, Wrexham.

Level 5 competition aged 9: Zara Roberts received 1st place on vault, 2nd place beam and 5th places on both floor and bar. This gave Zara a 2nd place overall in her competition.

In the Level 5 competition ages 10 & 11 – Neve received 1st on vault, 3rd on beam, 7th on bar and 8th on floor so she came 4th overall.

Lydia placed 4th on bars, 5th on vault, 7th on beam and 10th on her floor routine.

Zara Evans-McVeigh came 2nd overall after receiving 1st place on bar, 4th on floor, 5th on beam and 7th on vault.

Megan placed 2nd on both floor and beam, 10th on vault and 11th place on bars.

The girls also got a 1st place team medal.

Sunday’s competition was held at Deeside Leisure Centre.

Level 6 competition aged 8 years:  Ellie was 2nd on floor.

Mia was 4th on floor and beam with a 5th position on vault.

In level 6 age 7 years the results were: Macey was 2nd on floor, 3rd on vault and 4th on bar.

Olivia won 3rd place on bar.

Ava was 3rd on floor and 5th on beam. Overall, Macey was 3rd and Ava 6th. The team also won 2nd place.

Also competing on Sunday were girls in the Level 6 categories for 9-years and 12-years plus who also did well against over 40 girls from across the region.

All girls who placed 5th and above from in all the competitions will represent North Wales in Cardiff in October.

A big thank you to our coaches who prepared the girls for their competition, gave up their weekends to support them and helped to set up the gym for the events as well as sharing judging responsibilities.
