Gym sessions resume from Monday

We are happy to confirm we are resuming gym sessions from Monday 9 November with guidance from Welsh Government and Welsh Gymnastics following the end of the firebreak lockdown.

All classes will continue as they did prior to the firebreak.

We will continue to have handwashing and social distancing in place and gymnasts aged 11 and over must wear face coverings until they start their class.

Reminder: Please use the car park at the back of the gym for dropping off and picking up gymnasts. Please do not park on the road.

Parents must bring their children to the door and confirm they are symptom-free before class

We look forward to seeing you all next week.

Free classes for under fives on Zoom

Coach Shelley is running early years classes in conjunction with Early Years Wales and Welsh Gymnastics.

It’s a great opportunity to take part in some free classes from home for children under fives.

The project is funded by the Healthy & Active Fund, a partnership between Welsh Government, Sport Wales and Public Health Wales.

Classes are every Thursday for five weeks starting on Thursday 5 November 2020 from 10- 11am.

This is a virtual course via Zoom.

Each week, the sessions will bring a story to life for you and your child to enjoy together.

For more information on the programme or to book your place, please email: ActiveTogetherWales@earlyyears.wales

New team member

We would like to welcome our new team member Lauren Eaton-Jones as a welfare officer.

Lauren will be working alongside Alison, our current welfare officer, to help make sure the gym protects and supports gymnasts and creates a positive environment.

She is mum to Evie who has been with us since Preschool in 2016.

For her day job Lauren is a senior planner. She deals with a lot of policies and procedures which will also be ideal for all safeguarding procedures.

Lauren says: “I’ve wanted to be involved at the gymnastics club at some level and this post appealed to me as I’m always ready to listen and I’m looking forward to getting to know everybody a bit better. When things become more normal I’d like to be a familiar face for our gymnasts, coaches and parents, and will always be approachable and ready to provide support

Over the past few weeks Lauren has been doing her training, completing the recommended safeguarding and protecting children workshop via Welsh Gymnastics, and also a ‘Time to Listen’ course which helps us to create a child-centred environment.

Both welfare officers can be contacted through the website. They are here to support gymnasts, parents and the coaches.
