Lizzy Waite and Erin Messham
Erin Messham and Lizzy Waite from the Development class took part in the National Gymspire competition at Somersault gym in Cardiff on Sunday, writes coach Helen who supported the girls.
This was the first time that Gymspire had arranged national finals and so a new experience for our two girls to be representing North Wales.
Erin and Lizzy both competed in the U10 competition after coming in the top six in the regional event in October.
The girls were part of the North Area team with gymnasts from other clubs in North Wales who had also qualified.
The girls competed in vault, floor and tumble and were fantastic – some of the best performances I had seen from them.
Lizzy came 6th overall in her floor and the North Area team came 4th.
It was a tough competition against girls from clubs who were older, more experienced and trained more hours than our two gymnast so the results were fantastic.
Well done girls and all the coaches who helped them to reach their first national final.
There are only five days left to vote for our club which is bidding for the opportunity to receive between £5,000-£10,000 for new gym equipment in the Aviva Community Fund. So far, we’ve had 6,413 votes – but we still need more.
We’ve just updated details on our Shop page for those asking how to order clothing with our club logo. Order time is about three weeks.
