Sunday 7 July was not only the day Andy Murray become the first British man to win Wimbledon in 77 years, it was also the 4th Annual Buckley Summer Invitational Competition, writes coach Ceri Sass.

This year saw a record number of entires with 120 gymnasts competing from five clubs – Buckley, Deeside, Grays, Bangor and Wrexham Olympic.

It gives gymnasts who train under 4 hours per week a chance to compete and show their parents what skills they have been working in their weekly sessions.

Feedback has been extremely positive from coaches and parents from different clubs.

Well done to all the girls who competed from Buckley. You did the club proud!

Also, well done to the gymnasts from the other clubs. We hope to see you back next year!!

I would like to personally thank the coaches, judges and parents that made the running of the competition smooth and enjoyable for all!

A group of Buckley Girls put on a display at Ysgol Y Waun in Gwernaffield, near Mold, during a village party to mark the school’s 40th anniversary.

The girls were invited to put on a performance and took centre stage on Saturday afternoon.

Coaches including Ceri, Danielle, Lucy, Sally and Irene had been working with the girls to ensure they put on a good show.

Thanks to Steve who looked after transporting all the equipment and other parents who offered their support.

Volunteers needed for Sunday competition

Competition poster

We urgently need the help of parents to ensure Sunday’s competition is a success for our girls.

There are three rounds and we’d welcome helpers per round rather than all day.

So, if your daughter is competing, perhaps you could volunteer and share the work with another parent so you don’t miss anything.

We need volunteers to cover the door, provide refreshments and help with the scores – all will be explained!

Please let your daughter’s coach know if you are able to help us to help the girls.

Also, click the poster (right) to check competition times but make sure you know which round your daughter is competing in.

See you there!
