Happy 40th anniversary, says Nadia Comaneci

Nadia Comaneci

Olympic Gold medal gymnast Nadia Comaneci who is one of the judges on the BBC TV programme Tumble has been in touch ahead of our 40th anniversary.

In a phone message, Nadia Comaneci said: “Happy 40th anniversary to Buckley Gymnastics Club. Have a great party.”

Romanian athlete Nadia became the first gymnast in Olympic history to be awarded the perfect score of 10.0 for her performance on the uneven bars in 1976, according to the website, Olympic.org

Our girls have been practising for their own competition which starts at 17:00 BST at Buckley Leisure Centre and includes our friends from Twisters Gymnastics in Londonderry as well as Bangor Gymnastics Club.

The gala featuring all our gymnasts is at Deeside Leisure Centre on Saturday. The doors open at 14:30 BST. And you should have already bought your tickets for the anniversary party at Beaufort Park Hotel on Saturday evening.

See you there!
