Who’s up for an Olympic challenge?

The 2020 Olympics was due to start on 23 July in the National Stadium of Japan in Tokyo but it has been delayed a year.

tokyo challenge

    • Over 11,000 athletes
    • 206 different countries represented
    • 50 different disciplines
    • 4 years of training

Unfortunately, many of the athletes have had their training curtailed and their dreams delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Our own lives have been turned upside down and while we’re not in gym we thought we could do an Olympic-style challenge.

We challenge our members to walk, run, cycle or skate a combined 8,263 miles which is the distance from Gwernaffield gym to Tokyo.

We start on 1 June and hope to reach our target by 23 July.

All you need is a free Strava account to collate your distance. We have our own Buckley Girls Gymnastics Club page where we can record all our miles and each week we’ll update our progress.

We’ll also have a leader board for our more serious competitors!

We hope you’ll join us in our challenge. It’s going to be fun.
