North Area Gymspire competition success

Twelve gymnasts from the Development class took part in the North Area Gymspire competition at Deeside Leisure Centre on Sunday, writes coach Helen.

U8 gymnasts Maddy Humphreys, Ava Roberts, Manon Bennion, Ffion Kingsley-Williams, Darcy Compton, Phoebe Basnett and Erin Devlin all performed beautifully and with confidence. For some of the girls it was their first experience of a competition against other clubs.

Ffion Kingsley-Williams was 3rd on trampette, Darcy Compton was 6th on floor and Phoebe Basnett was 2nd on Floor.

We also had medals with Phoebe Basnett coming 6th overall, Maddy Humphreys 4th, and Manon Bennion 3rd.

The icing on the cake was that Buckley Team Blue (Maddy Humphreys, Ava Roberts, Manon Bennion and Ffion Kingsley-Williams) came in first place with the highest team score.

Macey Anderson, Lizzy Waite, Erin Messham, Evie McManus and Alica Parry were our U10 team in the same Gymspire competition.

These girls were on top form and did fantastically. Again the gymnasts picked up ribbons and medals on all pieces with Macey Anderson coming 6th on vault, Lizzy Waite getting 3rd on vault and 2nd on floor, Erin Messham coming 3rd on trampette and 4th on floor, and Evie McManus coming 5th on floor.

Both Erin Messham (3rd) and Lizzie Waite (4th) will represent the club and the region – a fabulous achievement and an exciting new experience ahead for both girls.

Finally, the Buckley team (Macey Anderson, Lizzy Waite, Erin Messham, Evie McManus and Alicia Parry) took to the podium with 2nd place in the team competition.

It was a great competition for all the girls with a lovely atmosphere and some great results.

Thanks go to all the coaches and young leaders who regularly help out in the Development class – a real team achievement. Well done girls and good luck in Cardiff.
