In May, eight girls from the advanced gym class travelled to Londonderry in Ireland to train with a group of gymnasts from Twisters gym.
Mr Buckley travelled with the girls along with coaches Danielle and Holly along with some parents.
The group flew to Derry on Friday and, after meeting Terri, the owner and coach of Twisters, the girls from both clubs trained together.
Saturday was another good day training with all girls working together in the gym.
It was great experience for the Buckley girls to learn alongside other girls and to share their knowledge and to get to use some great equipment.
The girls seemed to thoroughly enjoy the training experience.
When training finished the Buckley group had time to go sightseeing, visiting the Giant’s Causeway.
They played on the beach and in the sea during the fab weather. And, of course, everyone had to have fish and chips.
On Saturday evening we walked over the Peace Bridge in Derry where the girls learned about its significance. It was also very good for conditioning!
There was plenty more training on Sunday and, in the evening, the group went bowling and out for tea with the Twisters’ girls.
They had chance to train together on Monday morning before flying home to Liverpool Airport in the afternoon.
Thanks to Mr Buckley, Terri, and the coaches at Twisters as well as our coaches, Danielle and Holly, for the opportunity to experience a new gym and meet everyone at Twisters.
