Good luck: Coaches and adult gym members competing this weekend

Adult gym members and coaches are competing at the Adult Gymnastics British Championships over the weekend.

A special good luck to coach Becca who competes for the first time ever and only took up gymnastics last September.

The competition takes place at Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are available online from British Gymnastics but they can also be bought on the day if anyone wants to go along.

All classes at Gwernaffield and Buckley are cancelled on Saturday to allow coaches to compete.

Class changes

This weekend we’re running our annual Summer Invitational Competition.

It runs all day on Saturday and Sunday with over 300 gymnasts competing.

Any cake donations or raffle prizes would be most welcome and can be passed to coaches.

Intermediate and advanced classes have been cancelled but will be rescheduled.

Success in Derry

A huge congratulations to our girls who competed in the Maiden City Cup 2019 competition in Derry last week. Here are the results:

Novice
Olivia came 2nd on vault and bar, coming 3rd overall.

Intermediate

Aiyla was 1st on floor, vault, bar and beam and 1st overall. Ellie 3rd on floor and 2nd on bar, 2nd on beam and 2nd overall.

Rosie 3rd on vault.

Advanced

Megan came 3rd on vault and floor and came 3rd overall

Abi was 2nd on floor,2nd on vault, 1st on bar and 1st overall.

Bella 1st on floor, 1st on vault, 3rd on beam 2nd overall.

Evie came 2nd on bar.

Zara was 2nd on beam.

Ellie, Aiyla, Rosie and Mia came 2nd overall as a team with Bella,Abi,Megan,Evie and Zara 1st overall.

Special mention to Mia who had a fall on competition day and had a trip to A&E.

She returned to support her team mates – with crutches with a sprained ankle!

Thank you to our coaches Mr Buckley, Tara and Betty for looking after our gymnasts during their stay. And thanks to Twisters and their families for hosting.

Gymnasts head to Northern Ireland

Good luck to this year’s team of Advanced gymnasts and coaches who are travelling to Derry this morning to train and compete at Twisters Gymnastics.

We’ve been travelling over to Twisters since 2012. The girls get such a great experience from it, they’ve also made some great friends and keep in touch.

They’re travelling with Mr Buckley and coaches Tara and Betty.
