New sport leaders

Lucy, Lucy, Evie & Sophie

Well done and welcome to our newly qualified sport leaders.

Lucy, Sophie, Lucy and Evie have been helping out in gym classes for a while and took the plunge and completed the Welsh Gymnastics Sport Leader course.

The online section took place on Thursday which they all passed to go on to the practical work on Sunday.

Sport leaders are valuable members of the coaching team, supporting coaches and can run warm ups, cool downs and basic strength and flexibility in class. They are also role models for the younger gymnasts.

Many of our sport leaders go on to complete the Women’s Artistic Level 1 Coaching award and become fully qualified coaches.

Well done to all the girls.

Well done to them all.

Roaring success: Aiyla and head coach Danielle (left) and Liliana with coach Milly

Congratulations to gymnasts Aiyla and Liliana who have been selected to take part in special training sessions at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff.

Aiyla will be part of the Welsh Women’s Artistic Preparation Squad which is for gymnasts who are working towards national representation along with the British Elite Grades Pathway, British Championships and National and International Competitions.

And Liliana has been selected for Welsh Development Squad which is run by national coaches.

Buckley head coach Danielle said it was a “great achievement and a fantastic opportunity” for the gymnasts.

It’s been a busy couple of days for Aiyla, who also took part in a competition in Lilleshall last night for Compulsory Level 2 grade which takes place in early October.
